Sundar Dhoka Saathi Sewa
Sundar Dhoka Saathi Sewa is a compassionate, disability-led organisation in Nepal that walks alongside children and families facing hardship—offering hope, healing, and the chance to live with dignity.
With open arms and practical love, they remove barriers to healthcare, education, and inclusion, helping the most vulnerable experience the fullness of life they deserve.
You Can Help Build a More Accessible World
Partnering with Local Heroes to Create Global Impact
In Australia, we’re privileged to have some of the highest standards of accessibility for people with disabilities. But in many parts of the world, this simply isn’t the case.
In Nepal, people with disabilities face daily barriers to education, healthcare, employment, and even basic public spaces—because the infrastructure doesn’t accommodate them.
That’s where your support can make a life-changing difference.
A Mission Worth Supporting:
Restoration Care has partnered with Sundar Dhoka Saathi Sewa, a grassroots disability support organisation based in Patan, Nepal. Together, we are building something simple yet revolutionary: locally constructed, wheelchair-accessible ramps.
These ramps are being installed in:
Public buildings
Schools and hospitals
Shopping and entertainment precincts
And even individual homes and workplaces, through a growing request-based initiative.
Each ramp represents freedom—the freedom to go to school, visit a doctor, shop independently, or simply move about a community with dignity.
Why Give
-

Restoring Dignity and Mobility
Kamala, a wheelchair user, described her chair as “part of my body.” When hers broke during a festival and no repair services were available, SDSS instantly provided a replacement. Without this support, she would have been stranded in her home, unable to carry out daily life

Building Confidence Through Sports
In Madhesh Province, young people with disabilities had never even touched a sports wheelchair before SDSS stepped in. Through training, new equipment, and community, they gained not only athletic skills but also confidence and acceptance—something they rarely feel in their communities

Turning Despair into Purpose
Kedar, injured at 14, thought his life was over. SDSS gave him work, training in India, and a pathway to independence. Today, he repairs hundreds of wheelchairs each year and travels across Nepal helping others. He calls SDSS his “lifeline” and says it gave him “a reason to live with respect and dignity”

Breaking Down Barriers
In Nepal, inaccessible roads, limited resources, and stigma make life for people with disabilities especially hard. SDSS provides mobility aids, accessible infrastructure, and practical training that help break these barriers so people can live independently

Every Donation Multiplies Its Impact
A single contribution doesn’t just provide equipment—it creates ripple effects: a repaired wheelchair allows someone to work or go to school, a training program fosters community inclusion, and a sports wheelchair empowers a young person to believe they can achieve more

Real Lives, Real Gratitude
Across every story, beneficiaries express deep gratitude for the compassion and acceptance they receive from SDSS. For many, it is the difference between isolation and belonging, despair and hope, dependence and dignity
